RE: Fleetwood stock downgraded

This is fascinating information indeed! Where did you get the data from, by the way? Is it available on the Internet or is it from a subscriptions-only source? Thanks! Look here at the sales numbers for the first 6 months of this year and it will give you a good idea.

RE: Fleetwood stock downgraded

Fred/Folks: Which RV companies would you say are LESS affected by the overall downturn in the RV industry? Thanks! 08/20/2008 NEW YORK - Shares of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. tumbled Wednesday after oil prices jumped and a ratings service downgraded the recreational vehicle maker's ratings another notch into junk status...

RE: Floor plan help!!

There are many options, but a few top-of-my-head ones are as follows (all have the dinette on the curb side and a separate bathroom): - 2009 Fleetwood Discovery 40G (brand new and great floorplan!) - Damon Challenger 371 - Damon Tuscany 4055 & 4056 - Four Winds Windsport 36F - Winnebago Tour 40TD & 40WD I'm sure there are many others. Happy hunting!

RE: Best way to park MH during hurricane?

If you are pressed for time --as I suspect you are-- your best option may be to quickly travel SOUTH to an inland RV park in Miami / Homestead (there are at least three or four). We don't expect hurricane-force winds here but "merely" tropical storm-force winds. Good luck!

Not the time to sell that big rig yet!

Hi! I just heard a program on CNN about the current economic outlook and THEY said that the price of oil could come down to $100/bbl by year's end and drop even further to $80/bbl by early 2009. If CNN --which usually has a somewhat gloomy outlook on this subject-- is saying this, then I'd say that it's not time to sell the big rig yet. Cheers! Ray

Maximum weight in cabover?

Hi! I wonder how much weight can be placed in the cabover bed of a typical Class C when parked at a campground? I'm sure that the specific answer to this question depends on the specific model, but in very general terms, what would be the typical weight limit for the cabover bed for a Ford E450-based Class C? Needless to say, our folks are pretty heavy, so that's why I ask! (Probably from too much beer taken over a long time...) Thanks! Ray

RE: Big Rigs

Hey! What coach did you end up buying, after all? I more or less followed your quest for the perfect coach, but missed the last installment! Thanks! Ray What constitutes a big rig for campgrouds? Ours is 39' - Do we need to find campgrounds that only allow big rigs?

RE: 2009 Four Winds Windsport 36F

Just as an FYI, Damon builds a similar floorplan in its Tuscany line (which is a DP.) In addition, Newmar All Star (mid-engine and also diesel) has some floorplans that could be called somewhat similar to the 36F (although not at all alike.) Happy hunting! Ray In my continuing search of a Class A, I came across this model at an RV show today. The DW loved the floorplan. I liked it too, although I would prefer a DP. This one is a gasser built on the Ford platform. Anyway, besides liking this rig, I would like to know opinions on the quality of Four Winds coaches. Anybody willing to share their pro's and cons would be deinately appreciated. Any known problems or fit/finish issues?

RE: Travel Supreme, are they still in business

I understand that all Travel Supreme assets were bought by Jayco and that they will (?) launch a Class A motorhome line based on all of that. Given the current Class A market, however, they apparently are waiting a bit to do so. Ray Travel Supreme is out of the motorhome business. You should be very happy with a Beaver. Almost bought a Beaver but opted for a Country Coach instead.

RE: gas price drop

It's time to re-think selling the old gas guzzler! Cheers! Ray

RE: Mercedes RV?

There's a company in Germany that builds motorhomes with Mercedes-Benz innards, but as far as I know they are only available there. Check them out at: Hymer Ray A long time ago I actually saw photos of a Mercedes class A. I think it was from the late 70s or early 80s. So at one point, they did make a full size class A, but I can't tell you anything about it.

RE: Anyone looking at/bidding on this Ebay offered Beaver?

If you like that coach, you'll love the following one (a 1992 Beaver Grand Marquis) offered for sale in Lazydays -- it looks superb! 1992 Beaver Grand Marquis Ray This 1992 Contessa is a beauty but, if you are, look closely at the right rear interior - looks like a significant leak has been going on. These old Beavers are great values ( IMHO ) - you just have to be careful - the caulking will be dried out and if not tended to can be a MAJOR problem. Take care --

RE: Any 2005 Damon Tuscany 4075 owners here?

Hi Terry! You're right: thanks! Ray You may want to post in the Damon Forum. http://irv2.infopop.cc/eve/forums?a=frm&s=8076099152&f=7951072253

Any 2005 Damon Tuscany 4075 owners here?

I came across one such unit for sale (2005 Tuscany 4075)and I find the floorplan exceedingly well conceived for our needs, particularly the rear bedroom arrangement (with the pair of rear recliners and the big window in the rear.) I wonder, are there any 2005 4075 owners here? If so, how has been your experience with the coach? Any issues or concerns? Thanks! Ray

RE: Here she is - 2001 Dynasty Chancellor

By the way, is there anyone out there that collects motorhomes? (Someone like Jay Leno, let's say, but with a taste for motorhomes instead of cars.) Ray Congrats, Bill. Very nice. Cresco will be humming about the "rich guy" owns two Class A MH's.

Coachmen Aurora didn't make it to 2009

Just as a note on the side (and judging from the Coachmen website), the Aurora didn't make it into 2009, and now it's only the Mirada as a gas Class "A". It's a pity to see the nice full-wall slide floorplan go... For details, check the Coachmen website: Coachmen Ray

RE: Gas Prices stopping you from RV'ing

We're not supposed to talk politics in this forum (for good reason) and I won't, but I do think that our gas problems will magically be resolved after November... Given this, I think that it's a bit premature to declare RVing dead yet. Ray

RE: What is a UFO?

Another interesting item is that for 2009 Winnebago is making the diesel (on a Freightliner chassis) the standard drive train, while the UFO with gas is now an option. For 2008, it was the other way around. I guess that the market has spoken! Ray ...IMO, one likely reason Monaco dropped the UFO chassis was that it was too expensive to compete with their own Roadmaster RSR chassis. Given the opportunity to purchase a LaPalma/Vacationer built on a UFO GM8.1L gas chassis, or a Roadmaster RSR Cummins ISB diesel chassis at about the same price, which do you think dealers are going to stock?

RE: RV with Murphy Bed

Hey Steve! The Rexhall coaches are undoubtedly some of the most modern --and beautiful-- available anywhere. One quick question: are the prices listed on their web site subject to bargaining, as most other coach manufacturers do with their MSRP? Thanks! Ray I was over at the Rexhall factory last week and am in close contact with people there since I left their employ a few years ago. The Murphy bed option isn't mentioned on the web-site but is available. As far as sales, only from the factory at this point. Service is covered by a network of independent service facilities throughout the country.

RE: RV with Murphy Bed

None of the currently-available models on their web page offer it (or I missed it.) Check out the web site your self at the following URL: Rexhall (By the way, I understand that these excellent coaches are only sold and serviced on the West Coast.) Ray Do you know Rexhall model it is that offers the Murphy Bed?
